World Food Prpgramme

The World Food Programme (WFP) is the food assistance agency of the United Nations and the world's largest humanitarian organization dedicated to saving lives, reducing hunger, and building resilience. In Pakistan, WFP works closely with federal and provincial governments, development partners, and local communities to improve food security, nutrition, disaster risk management, and climate resilience. As a key partner in strengthening Pakistan's social protection system, WFP supports the development of adaptive and shock-responsive social protection mechanisms that enable timely assistance to vulnerable populations during disasters and other crises. Its work includes strengthening government capacities, generating evidence for policy and planning, enhancing data and early warning systems, and promoting integrated approaches that link humanitarian assistance with long-term resilience and sustainable development. Through technical expertise, innovation, and partnerships, WFP contributes to more inclusive, resilient, and efficient social protection systems that help protect vulnerable households, improve food and nutrition security, and support Pakistan's progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
