Sindh Strengthens Government–Civil Society Collaboration for Social Welfare

The Social Welfare Department, Government of Sindh, participated in a provincial consultation under the EU-supported SCSP initiative, jointly implemented with GIZ Pakistan. The consultation focused on strengthening government–civil society coordination, addressing regulatory and operational challenges faced by CSOs, and promoting an enabling environment for effective social welfare initiatives across Sindh.

Karachi, 17 September 2026: The Social Welfare Department, Government of Sindh, participated in a provincial consultation organized under the Support to Civil Society in Pakistan (SCSP) initiative, supported by the European Union and jointly implemented with GIZ Pakistan. The consultation was attended by Chief Guest Mr. Munawar Ali Mithani, Secretary, Social Welfare Department, along with Mr. Nooruddin Hingorjo, Deputy Secretary, Mr. Khair Muhammad Kalwar, Ms. Tahira Razzak, and Mr. Haseeb Soomro. The consultation provided a platform for dialogue on strengthening coordination between the government and civil society organizations (CSOs) in Sindh. Discussions focused on regulatory and operational challenges faced by CSOs and ways to promote an enabling environment for their effective functioning. Participants exchanged views on improving institutional coordination, addressing challenges affecting civil society organizations, and strengthening collaboration between relevant government institutions and civil society stakeholders. The Social Welfare Department reaffirmed the importance of constructive engagement and coordination with civil society organizations to support effective social welfare initiatives and contribute to the development of an enabling environment for CSOs across Sindh.
